Our Sustainability Programme
Management and Working Method
Royal Greenland’s sustainability programme is reviewed by a Steering Group headed by the CEO. On an annual basis, the programme is approved by the Executive Board and submitted to the Supervisory Board.
The sustainability team stays updated on current trends, handles compliance tasks and proposes ongoing improvement projects and initiatives. The sustainability team also cooperates with stakeholders in the implementation phase and is responsible for the annual sustainability reporting.
Dynamic working method throughout the value chain

Stakeholder Dialogue
From fisheries to sales, Royal Greenland is a fully vertically integrated company. The company’s internal value chain therefore includes a large number of stakeholders who continuously interact with each other and with the world at large.
Suppliers, employees, customers, authorities and interest organisations all contribute to making Royal Greenland a significant active player, both in local communities and on the global stage.
We enjoy broad cooperation and dialogue with many stakeholders, whose input plays a significant role in our approach to business operations, our priorities and our actions. The results of our stakeholder dialogue also greatly influence our Sustainability Programme.

Material Assessment
As a company, Royal Greenland has a responsibility to address and asses the material impact and use the opportunities arising in our business operations.
Via a structured materiality assessment, we have identified ESG and sustainability conditions, and prioritised those that are most important for the company and for our surrounding environment.
The materiality assessment is based on our responsibility, risks and opportunities
Towards employees, the environment, the business, and the societies of which we are part of. The most significant topics within the two categories are outlined in the schedule and then screened in relation to the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Responsible fishing
Our fisheries must be managed in accordance with the scientific advice and certified by an independent third party. We procure fish and shellfish according to equivalent principles and contribute to building knowledge of fisheries, the marine environment and new species. Our footprint
We will maximize the degree of utilisation by creating new food products from the fish and shellfish that we produce. We will minimize our environmental footprint through responsible consumption and circular handling of non-renewable resources.
Healthy working lives
We want to create an integrated occupational health and safety management system with an environmental management system, that protects the physical and psychological working environment and the well-being of all employees. We set the same requirements to our suppliers as we do to ourselves.Education in Greenland
We take great responsibility for competence development and education in Greenland's society, in close cooperation with educational institutions and via our own Royal Greenland Academy.
