Our purpose
Unlocking value
for resilient futures
In our indigenous communities across the North Atlantic, we have cultivated a collective wisdom that has enabled us to live in harmony with nature for over 4500 years, we call this Ilisimasavut.
Forged in harsh and seemingly impossible conditions - our waters, our fish, and our people are rare and precious and must be safeguarded to ensure we continue to thrive for centuries to come. Wild caught fishing is not just a tradition but considered the foundation of the communities in which we operate. It reflects our history, and sustainable fishing is vital to our ability to be resilient in the future. Thus, Royal Greenland’s purpose is one of great responsibility.
We exist to create resilient futures for our people, product, and place, by unlocking the full value potential of our seafood - operating locally and selling globally - for the benefit of our 56,000 Greenlandic citizen-owners.
How we create resilient futures for
our people, product, and place
Nunaqqativut
- our people
We protect what matters and are committed to creating resilient futures where we grow and thrive together. We help to shape the future of people and communities through maritime education and meaningful employment and the shared economic value we unlock together, building resilience for fishing communities across the North Atlantic.
Tunisassiavut
- our product
Royal Greenland strives to stand as a mark of exceptional quality, commanding premium prices for our rare and precious products worldwide. We leverage centuries of expertise to unlock the value potential of our wild-caught seafood. We aim to use all our precious raw material and ensure purity and superior quality through careful handling, bringing seafood to market around the world that can be proudly sold and bought with good conscience.
Nunarput
- our place
There is no place on earth like the wild nature of the North Atlantic. Impossibly harsh and unpredictable as well as indescribably pristine and beautiful, our home is the habitat for our precious sea life. Company and country, like fish and the ocean, we need each other – our purpose is the driving force for ensuring they work together in harmony. This is why we work to sustainably protect the places in which we operate, now, and for a resilient future.
