Royal Greenland and Espersen enter new cooperation agreement
As a natural development of the cooperation established in 2017, Royal Greenland and Espersen have signed a new cooperation agreement enabling a continued strong seafood category development based on production in Koszalin.
Royal Greenland and Espersen have collaborated closely during the last four years, since Espersen took over the Royal Greenland factory in Koszalin in 2017. Since then the plant has produced both retail and foodservice products as supplier to Royal Greenland.
With the new agreement, effective from 1st of September 2021 and with a transition period until 1st of January 2022, the cooperation enters a new phase. In compliance with our strategy, Royal Greenland will in future strengthen focus on our core species.
In retail, Royal Greenland will transfer sale and marketing of the frozen, retail-packed breaded and battered assortment produced in Koszalin to Espersen. Royal Greenland will thus be able to focus on the categories prawns, Greenland halibut and other natural fish as well as chilled products based on our own raw materials. In order to best service the retail market, Royal Greenland and Espersen will jointly service the market and support stores with a common field sales force.
In foodservice Royal Greenland will in future strengthen its market presence by not only selling and marketing our existing assortment, but by taking over Espersen’s foodservice business in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Germany within all categories. The part of foodservice know as deli-counters in retail stores will remain a strategic area to Royal Greenland and will be served with a full product assortment.
In the transition period from 1st September until 1st January 2022, Royal Greenland takes full responsibility for existing assortment and customers and will throughout the transition period work closely with Espersen for a smooth transition and high service.
