About Eastern Quebec Seafoods Ltd
Eastern Quebec Seafoods Ltd is located in Matane, Quebec close to the best fishing grounds in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Raw material is delivered directly from the catching vessels to the factory for further processing. The plant exists since 1967 and has been a part of the global Royal Greenland Group since 2005. Royal Greenland is the world’s largest supplier of cold water prawns.
Eastern Quebec Seafoods has been MSC certified since 2008. The MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) runs an existing and ambitious program, working with industry partners to transform the world’s seafood business to a sustainable basis.
The factory in Matane has obtained BRC certification every year since 2005.
The factory employed around 150 employees during high season and transformed more than 14 million pds of raw material during the fishing season from April 1st until October 31st.
The main brands are Matane and Maganos.
Around 85% of the production is exported to Europe, 10% to United States and 5% is sold to the Canadian market.

L’usine des Fruits de Mer de l’Est du Québec (1998) Ltée est située à Matane, dans la province de Québec, au Canada, tout près de la meilleure zone de pêche du golfe du Saint-Laurent.
La matière première est livrée directement des bateaux à l’usine pour la transformation. L’usine existe depuis 1967 et elle fait dorénavant partie du groupe Royal Greenland depuis 2005. Royal Greenland est le plus grand distributeur au monde de crevette nordique.
L’usine des Fruits de Mer de l’Est du Québec (1998) Ltée est certifiée MSC depuis 2008. Le MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) mène un programme ambitieux et passionnant, en collaboration avec les partenaires de la filière pêche, pour transformer le marché mondial des produits de la mer et promouvoir des pratiques de pêche durables.
De plus, l’usine a obtenu la certification BRC à chaque année depuis sa première demande en 2005.
L’usine compte environ 150 employés en haute saison et transforme plus de 14 millions de livres de matière première durant la saison de pêche qui débute le 1er avril et s’étend jusqu’au 31 octobre.
Les principales marques sont Matane et Maganos.
Environ 85% de la production est exportée vers l’Europe, 10% vers les Etats-Unis et 5% est vendue sur le marché canadien.
