Student Interns
Complex. Intricate. Historic. Global.
This is how our student interns described the fishing industry after their experiences working with Quin-Sea Fisheries this summer.
This week Royal Greenland Canada’s Newfoundland and Labrador division, Quin-Sea Fisheries, is bidding farewell to four terrific student interns. It has been a pleasure having Brooke (payroll), Santiago (procurement), Jairaaj (accounting), and Alex (business development) around the office and in our plants this summer. We would like to recognize their efforts, thank them for making real contributions to our company, and wish them all the best with their bright futures ahead!
As their summer experiences came to a close, we asked Brooke, Santiago, Jairaaj, and Alex to share a quick highlight of their time with Quin-Sea…
Brooke: “Working with Quin-Sea gave me a greater appreciation for the high degree of complexity in the fishing industry. Through my position with the payroll team, I saw constant change and movement in things such as the market price of seafood. Evidently, the fishery has lots of moving parts that are in constant motion.”
Santiago: “I enjoyed getting a ‘behind the scenes’ look into the processing and manufacturing side of the fishery. Touring fish plants and seeing the intricacies of their operations was a great learning experience that helped me better understand how my internship with the procurement team fit into the bigger picture at Quin-Sea”.
Jairaaj: "Quin-Sea gave me a 'deep dive' into the colorful nature of Newfoundland’s historic fishing industry. It was remarkable to see the mix of modern innovation and age-old tradition in the company’s production process. Doing an accounting work term with Quin-Sea has broadened my horizons and deepened my professional experience."
Alex: “I had an incredible experience exploring new markets for Newfoundland seafoods this summer with Quin-Sea. Collaborating with teams in both Newfoundland and Europe gave me first-hand experience into global nature of Newfoundland’s fishing industry.”
