Extending a Warm Welcome to our 180 New Employees!

26.04.2024
Arrival to St. John's airport

Joining us from the Philippines, these employees have now settled into their new homes in Old Perlican.

Our new colleagues arrived in a few different groups, all of whom were greeted at the St. John’s International Airport.  With temperatures here in Newfoundland being 20 – 30 degrees cooler than back home, new staff were quickly fitted out with warm puffer jackets, hats, and appropriate footwear.  Next, all new staff were brought to the bank to set up Canadian bank accounts.

Happy faces

After getting bundled up and registered at the bank, staff travelled to Old Perlican and arrived at their accommodations for the season.  Local stores in town welcomed 180 new shoppers, and the streets came alive with new residents in town for the fishing season.  In the days that followed, workers received training that outlined everything they need to know about safety, quality, and operational excellence in our production facilities on the Avalon Peninsula.

We look forward to an exciting and productive season ahead for all our valued staff, including locals, folks joining us from overseas, and indeed employees who move around the province for employment in the fishing industry.  It is all of your dedication and hard work that help us maximize the value of our ocean’s resources.

A special thank you to Amanda and April who have been there every step of the way for our temporary foreign workers, from job interviews in the fall, to travel and logistics coming to Newfoundland this Spring, and now with ongoing support here on the ground.  Your efforts have been amazing!
